Working abroad Pt.1
A project in Soller on the North-West of Mallorca
Nestled alongside the Tramuntana mountains, amongst citrus and olive groves with views over the Mediterranean Sea, the town of Soller on the west coast of Mallorca with its historic architecture, quaint streets, and vibrant cultural and historical scene is a highly desirable destination for people looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy beach resorts on the south coast or the bustling town of Palma
The lush green valley sprawling out of the beautiful old town with its narrow and cobbled streets is where Jim decided to lay his hat after selling his business in the ‘Rag-trade’, as he likes to call it.
He found an old Finca with 2 acres of Olive groves and citrus plantation equally distanced between the port and the old town in a quiet and tranquil patch and set about restoring and developing the place into a rather special and incredibly welcoming home.
Having already entrusted us with multiple projects in the past at properties in London, Amsterdam and even a town house in the middle of Soller's old town we took on the task of designing, making, delivering and fitting furniture for several rooms of the Finca.
Some simple, tasteful wardrobe arrangements were made for the bedrooms, a small kitchenette in the outhouse and a large Custom-Made Modular kitchen for the main house.
This is a perfect example of when the juxtaposition between a modern non-framed kitchen alongside an old rustic building works perfectly if designed with care and consideration especially when it comes to colour, hardware and appliances.
Having worked closely with Jim over the years we’ve come accustomed to his preference of a no fuss style when it comes to design. A timeless and understated approach is what was delivered here with the focus being on the functionality of the space.
Design flourishes are kept in check to the extent that even a whole new cornice style had been created in partnership with him, which, given its tasteful simplicity is now fully implemented in our profile portfolio simply as the 'Jim Cornice’.
Working closely on a large scale project with customers who have a real feel for quality and style make an undertaking like this a joy from start to finish.
We've worked on many oversea's jobs over the years from Portugal to the Caribbean and have become somewhat experts on the logistics of carrying a project like that through from design all the way through to delivery and fitting. So if you have an overseas project in mind and are wondering who to entrust with it please feel free to give us a call and discuss it further!
